me: lifesciences, but i havent declared my major yet. so u sch here or smthng?

Alright?! so wad really bothers me nw? well, its the tammy furore. not ma darling tammy frm sch ( haha, well she declared she loved me on msn so i need to give smthng back rite?) but the nyp tammy case. its such a HUGE uproar, but honestly i feel that the media is jus blowing it out of proportions. in one of the articles in yest new paper (courtesy of *yours truly*) a mp nominee even mentioned, " i wld not judge her. infact i would listen to her reasons" i wanted to pulverize that guy. hello?! hez sppsed to be one of those young mps- though hez 40 yrs old. DUDE!!!WAD VALID REASONS cld she possibly give??? "i need to show my dying grandma this video?" yea right. personally, i fail to realize why there is such a hoo-ha abt this in the first pl? its getting out of hand.. well that chick had sex. so? she video-ed it. not the norm here yet but still, so? get over it. its really sad cuz i dun see why the GUY, who'z in the video as well doesnt get that as much publicity as this poor girl has. i dare to, as far, say that it HAS TO be the guy who prob came up with the suggestion to video it. come on, most girls refuse to conduct such *extracurricular activities* even the lights on. wad more, video it?! wad outrages me further is da audacity the public or the govt have to actually feel enraged by this growing trend in our "generation who is confused" Right. they show us clips of britney and christina a. frenching madonna, we have magazines openly citing britney giving blow jobs, we have stars practically baring it all, hell, we have COSMOPOLITAN. popular tv shows catered fer teens like OC or One tree hill have scenes that get the idea of premarital sex across. And now, you are shocked that youngsters are engagin in pre-marital sex? you've got to be joking! i feel that the govt, perhaps, is overwhelmed by the fear of extensive HIV patients rather than the morality of the future generation.
perhaps, i thought, we've become too liberalized and westernized.. Although a handful of us DO NOT engage in such activities and feel an obligation to our future *other halfs*, we're not entirely shocked when our friends commit to such practices as well. maybe, i thought, these asian values are too conservative and the generation of today DO NOT identify with it. well then, the acid-test, on hoW western or asian u actually are, hit me. would u hit ur child, in future, if his/her behaviour gets out of hand? i thought about it. I'm sure I will. i definity cant see myself telling her, " no dinner for u, go to bed immediately" as an effective deterrent. Infact, ill bunch up 2-3 rotans and make sure she gets her maths right. I'll probably send her to the best schools, piano lessons, gym classes, ballet, indian classical dance and religious classes( to keep our culture intact). i'll probably give her the best tuitions (kiasu-ism) AND prob wldnt allow her to date till she's 20, and not to an army boy, def. I'll aptly ensure she follos wad lky once recommended, " college students should only marry college students and not to anyone below their academic standards" perhaps, i thot, i AM an ASIAN at heart.
yesterday, it was out in the newspapers that they were finally going to release a film which was banned in Singapore in the 1970s. it was apparently made in Singapore and the storyline, which im not really sure of, dances to the tune of something like..an ang-moh getting into a relationship with a singaporean girl. the prob lied in the fact that the "girl", a then-model, was a good friend of ma mom's in her yesteryears. my mother was a tad bit disturbed that by releasing the movie, now, might actually disturb her friend's-monica subramaniam's marriage or what-nots. my mother felt that it was "just not-right" while i argued that she should have been open with her husband from the start and if she didnt do any "explicit" scenes, she should have nothing to worry about. However, my mom made just one statemt. " you have to be my age to understand"
Sadly, no matter how liberalized we feel we are, we have to bear in mind that we live in an Asian society, and like it or not, we would be judged by our behaviour. Though the repercussions may not be obvious to us now, i do feel that when we finally do face the consequences, it would be less mitigated compared to an ang-moh. moral of the story : remember your roots.
